Trust, experience and expertise help me provide you with the healthiest, most beautiful smile of your life.

As an early adopter of porcelain veneers, Dr. Eliot Tokowitz has seen how cosmetic dentistry has evolved over the years. With more than 30 years in practice, he says one important lesson he’s learned is that less is always more. “I always try to preserve the natural, healthy tooth structure whenever possible,” he explains. “While it’s a lot easier to file down the teeth and use crowns or veneers all the time, that isn’t always necessary, it’s just easier. Throughout my career I’ve learned to do best for the patient, even if it takes a little bit longer, is harder to do and is more artistically demanding.” With a loyal patient base, Dr. Tokowitz and his team focus on providing outstanding care and service, which he believes starts with patient education. “We want everyone who walks in our doors to make an informed decision about their smiles,” he explains. “We talk through the various treatment options and keep our approach as conservative as possible. While it’s true some cases may need veneers or restorations, others simply may need to get the teeth in better positions, which we do with Invisalign, so that I don’t have to file as much of the tooth structure leading to a better result.” Dr. Tokowitz’s vast experience, skill, and talent for restoring healthy smiles has made him the go-to cosmetic dentist in Chicago’s stylish and family-friendly Lakeview neighborhood. “I strive to work together with my patients on the process of creating stunning smiles, it should always be a team approach as they are an active participant in their own smile journey.”

A Minute With

  1. What is the first step in getting a new smile?

The first step in getting a new smile is figuring out what it is that you don't like about your smile and then communicating that to your dentist.

  2. How is dentistry like art?

It’s never not like art. The tools that I use are like my paintbrush and my technique must be meticulous as well. Understanding shapes, anatomy, how something like Invisalign will straighten the teeth, all those factors contribute to the final result. Like an artist I’m always considering symmetry, form, function and many of the elements that contribute to creating something beautiful and pleasing to the eye.

  3. How can your smile make you look younger?

First, just the act of smiling more will automatically make you appear more youthful. When you feel good about your smile and the appearance of your teeth, it radiates from the inside out. Beyond what's obvious at the surface, like having pretty, white teeth, the length of your teeth can also cause you to appear younger or older.  If your teeth have been severely worn down due to grinding, building them back up with crowns or other restorations can make a huge difference in your lips, cheeks and profile.
