Davis Nguyen

Facial Plastic Surgeon
450 S. Beverly Dr., Beverly Hills, CA, 90212
I believe the best kind of cosmetic enhancement is one that adds balance and preserves the natural features.

Regarded as the “un-plastic” plastic surgeon, Dr. Davis B. Nguyen is touted for his conservative approach to facial rejuvenation and the rigorously natural results he achieves. Through a unique combination of deft surgical skill, a keen artistic eye and congenial bedside manner, Dr. Nguyen consistently earns high praise from his patients and their numerous referrals. “I believe that the best outcomes are achieved when both the patient and the surgeon share a common objective and establish a consensus regarding aesthetic taste,” he says. Dr. Nguyen maintains a busy practice in Beverly Hills, with satellite offices in Manhattan, Greenwich, Connecticut, and Newport Beach.

About My Practice

What fascinates you about the face?

I am continuously fascinated by the unique beauty of each of my patients' faces. I address each person's specific needs and then tailor my approach to achieve their individual goals.

Describe your practice.

My staff and I pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of personalized care. I subscribe to old-fashioned medicine and make myself accessible to my patients; I even make house calls. I also offer my patients "concierge" service, an option which gives them 24/7 access to me by phone and email. Patients consistently remark that they 'feel like they are treated like family.'

What makes your practice distinct?

I think my practice is distinguished by my education. I've trained at some of the most highly respected institutions in the world. I completed a research fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Harvard and trained in head and neck surgery at Yale, where I served as chief resident. I also did a fellowship under Dr. Frank M. Kamer at the Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills. I stayed on as his associate until he retired.

About Me

Why did you pursue plastic surgery?

It blends the technical with the creative. I love to work with my hands, and I also love being an artist. It gives me great pleasure to enhance my patients' natural beauty by restoring balance and proportion to their features.

A Minute With

  1. How i make the best first impression

In my initial consultations, I’m very definitive in my recommendations; I also care deeply about how
my patients envision the results they hope to achieve

  2. Most memorable patient reaction

When a patient in her 60s joyfully exclaimed, “My neck didn’t look this good in my 20s!”

  3. My motto

The approach to facial plastic surgery by both patient and doctor should be a conservative one, and the results should appear natural and balanced

  4. What sets my practice apart

At my practice we pride ourselves on striking the delicate balance between sophistication and approachability

  5. Three things everyone should do before surgery

I encourage patients to undergo a rigorous and comprehensive medical clearance to ensure they are good candidates for the procedure; it’s also very important to research a physician’s educational background and verify that their chosen surgeon is board-certified in his
    or her specialty

  6. How do you manage patient expectations?

In my initial consultations, I’m very
    definitive in my recommendations;
I also care deeply about how my
    patients envision the results they
    hope to achieve

  7. The biggest misconception about my field

    That it’s impossible to have
    “invisible” plastic surgery. Some
    people believe to achieve dramatic
results, there has to be evidence of
    having had surgery

  1. What is the average recovery time for fat transfer to correct under eye hallows?
    What our experts say:

I don't perform fat transfer.  I prefer hyaluronic acid filler injections to the tear troughs to correct orbital volume loss.

  2. About Juvederm Filler
    What our experts say:

It may appear like a loss of volume only because the point of injections is probably swollen and distorting the anatomy.  Once the swelling subsides (in 2 weeks), this should normalize.

  3. Are nurse practioners as qualified for laser treatment as MD
    What our experts say:

It is preferable to seek treatment by an MD, and not just any MD, but a board certified plastic surgeon, board certified facial plastic surgeon, or board certified dermatologist.

  4. Does it makes sense to travel to a less expensive location for a face lift? I wonder about follow up care etc. I live in Hawaii where things are very expensive! Thank you.
    What our experts say:

One should never bargain shop, especially when it comes to facial surgery.  You can hide anything else, but you can't your face if you are not pleased with the results.  Most importantly, entrust your care to someone who is highly trained and highly skilled with an artistic eye.  Post-surgical downtime is average 2 weeks before going back to work.

  5. Does a chemical peel reduce wrinkles?
    What our experts say:

Chemical peels and lasers are both good for addressing texture and tone of skin, thereby reducing wrinkles. I happen to prefer laser for skin resurfacing as I find it more precise.

The results are amazing.

Carolyn E.
"“A very large melanoma appeared in the middle of my left cheek and one almost in the middle of my forehead. Surgery was my only option and I was very aware of how disfiguring it could be. I knew I needed a doctor very skillful in reconstructive surgery, so I went to meet with Dr. Davis B. Nguyen. Melanoma surgery is done in three phases. First, there is the removal of the cancer, then a wait for pathology reports, and then the major reconstruction. The surgery was long and arduous, but the outcome is a Cinderella story. The compassionate care I received all through the ordeal was remarkable and I am truly grateful. The results are amazing. My face is restored and, I might add with great delight, I am a younger looking and more attractive me. Thank you, Dr. Nguyen."
