These Deodorants and Perfumes are the Perfect Pairs to Layer featured image

We spend time picking out the perfect fragrance, but then we slap on a cheap deodorant that may overpower or pair poorly with the perfume. After accidentally creating a perfect concoction of scents one day, I’m now dedicated to layering my perfume and deodorant with notes that complement each other well. Here are some of the best combinations to try for a more dynamic, long-lasting scent.

Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Milk ($108) + Native Deodorant Spray in Coconut & Vanilla ($14)

Ellis Brooklyn is one of my favorite perfume companies. It’s hard to choose between all of their unique scents, but Vanilla Milk is a clear frontrunner for me. This is the combo that sparked the idea to pair my perfume and deodorant more thoughtfully. One day I applied Vanilla Milk along with my Native Deodorant Spray with scents of coconut and vanilla, and it all made sense. I get compliments on the scent duo all the time now.

Byredo Gypsy Water ($200) + Salt & Stone Deodorant Gel in Bergamot & Eucalyptus ($20)

Gypsy Water is one of Byredo’s best-selling scents. It features deep woody and citrus notes. When paired with Salt & Stone Deodorant in Bergamot & Eucalyptus, the duo create a scent that’s at once energizing and grounding.

Maison Margiela REPLICA Jazz Club ($144) + Molton Brown Deodorant Stick in Tobacco Absolute ($20)

This pair is the perfect cocktail for late nights on the town. Maison Margiela Jazz Club smells of lemon, pink pepper, rum accord, vanilla and smoky tobacco. The Molton Brown deodorant adds depth to the tobacco scent and introduces other complimentary notes like leather, cedarwood and Peruvian balsam.

Dedcool Red Dakota ($90) + By Rosie Jane Deodorant in Wake the F*ck Up ($15)

Dedcool says Red Dakota “smells like stepping into an elevator with a hot person,” and they are correct. The perfect partner for this intriguing scent is By Rosie Jane Deodorant in Wake the F*ck Up. Both boast citrus and earthy plant notes.

NEST New York Seville Orange Perfume Oil ($98) + Alo Supernatural Deodorant Scented ($18)

At any given time, there is a NEST candle in my place at the ready. The brand’s candle scents are strong, steadfast and enchanting, and their perfume oil is no different. The fresh citrus scent of Alo Supernatural Deodorant is the perfect match for the Seville Orange Perfume Oil.

Le Labo Santal 33 ($215) + Saltair Skincare Deodorant in Santal ($10)

What does one pair with the iconic Le Labo Santal 33 that won’t take away from its beloved scent? The answer is more santal. Mix and match Santal 33 with Saltair Skincare Deodorant in Santal to get some levels to your santal scent.

Lake & Skye Cote du Paradis Eau de Parfum ($98) + Sol de Janeiro Rio Deo Deodorant in Cheirosa 62 ($16)

This combo represents the sweeter side of summer vacations by the sea. Cote du Paradis’s notes of almond, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and creamy milk are a dreamy match for Sol de Janerio’s signature scent of pistachios and salted caramel.
