As the world waits with bated breath to see if this will be Demi Moore’s big night, the icon and Best Actress nominee already brought one of her best looks of the red-carpet season this Sunday to the Oscars stage—and we have the inside story.

“Demi is wearing a beautiful Armani Privé dress,” shares celeb hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos. “So, for her hair I wanted it to be glamorous, but at the same time powerful—like Demi’s personality! Timeless.”

Giannetos succeeded, but he notes he had a “starting point.”

“My reference was an iconic shoot Demi did for Vogue in the early 2000s, shot by Mario Testino,” he says, calling the look “Oscars waves.”

Giannetos also gave his step-by-step breakdown, which included some trusted beauty staples.

“I started on towel-dried hair and prepped it by spraying the roots with Moroccanoil Boost Spray and Moroccanoil Perfect Defense Heat Protectant,” he says. “I brushed that through and then went in with the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer on high settings to give her a blowout.”

Giannetos followed up by curling Moore’s hair with the Dyson Corrale Straightener on medium setting (365 degrees) and set every section. “Once everything was set, I brushed the hair out and sprayed the Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to give her that lush and glamorous finish,” he says.
