The Official Nail Polish Shade for Fall Isn’t What You’d Expect

When visiting a nail salon during the height of fall, you, like me, might tend to gravitate toward darker polish colors like gray or deep plum in place of your bright coral summer mani. But according to Sarah Gibson Tuttle, founder of celeb-approved nail salon Olive & June, this year’s go-to hue might not be what you’re used to.

“Fall nails usually include darker colors, but we’ve seen the season act as a ‘palate cleanser,’” Tuttle says, explaining that nude and neutral colors usually make an appearance during the season. But this year, it’s a different hue you’ll be seeing everywhere. “Blues have been huge this summer, so slightly darker shades will be popular as we transition from lighter summer blues to a dark navy in winter.” If the nail guru’s word wasn’t enough to convince you, take a cue from the leading polish brands below, whose new fall collections all have one thing in common: a brilliant shade of blue.
