"Rose gold blond is a blond color that has predominantly gold undertones with a tiny hint of red to create a pink undertone," says celebrity colorist Matt Rez, who's responsible for Margot Robbie's gorgeous golden locks. "Ask your colorist for a level 9 and up rose gold gloss. They will know what to mix. Typically I will do a level 9 golden base gloss with a few drops of red and yellow pure tone."
So we want to know, is the rose gold look reserved only for blonds or can brown-haired beauties pull it off too? "I believe it can be great on both blonds and brunettes," says Rez. "For blonds, an allover effect with a rose gold gloss is a really fun way to spice it up! For warm brunettes who have red undertones and highlights running within their base, a rose gold gloss can really add an interesting twist."
Another thing to consider when choosing this shade: your skin tone. Rez explains that if you have a lot of pink undertones in your skin, you may want to consider limited how much pink you add into your rose gold color. "Use more golden color than rose," he adds. "But if you have olive skin, play up the rose and really have fun with it."
