Until now, if you wanted to get your hands on the beloved SkinCeuticals products derms swear by and beauty editors keep stocked year-round—I’m looking at you C E Ferulic!—you have to buy at your doctor’s office or online. This is all fine and dandy of course, but what if you want the Sephora-esque experience of touching, smelling and playing with the products before shelling out the big bucks? Well, now you can…in certain cities.
SkinCeuticals’ first-ever retail store, SkinLab, allows consumers to experience the brand in a whole new way. Launching in collaboration with dermatologists and plastic surgeons across the country—three to start and hopefully many more to come—the stores will carry the entire SkinCeuticals product line and a team of brand-trained professionals will consult on individualized regimens. You can even create your own Custom D.O.S.E serum, SkinCeuticals’ high-tech, personalized skin-care superhero, or get a closer look at what’s hiding underneath your skin’s surface using the brand’s exclusive SkinScope LED diagnostic.
On-site aestheticians will administer three science-backed, express treatments—all are 30 minutes; walk-ins and appointments accepted—that work to smooth, brighten and firm the skin using tools like LED and laser therapy, chemical peels and microneedling. And when you’re done, a Dermablend makeup station awaits you for touch-ups (which you probably won’t need because you’ll be glowing!). Access to additional aesthetic treatments, such as injectables and noninvasive body-contouring, will also be offered at the store, via an appointment with the location’s partnering doctor.
“We were founded by dermatologist Dr. Sheldon Pinnell and are currently in more than 5,000 physician offices nationwide,” says Christina Fair, general manager of SkinCeuticals. “SkinLab is an opportunity for us to engage with aesthetic enthusiasts alongside our partner physicians, but also with consumers who are new to the brand, the skin care–obsessed industry, and medical aesthetics in an approachable way.”
So where can you find them? The first location opened last month in Napa Valley, CA in partnership with Dr. Karynne Duncan. This month, a location opened in Houston in collaboration with plastic surgeon Dr. Forrest Roth; in February, the third location in Stamford, CT will open in partnership with dermatologist Dr. Kim Nichols. More locations across the U.S. are slated for 2020. “As a brand that is grounded in research and addressing a vast array of consumer needs, it was important to us that the initial launch span from coast to coast, touching in between as well,” says Fair. “The individual learnings will be crucial to informing our future growth plans.”
“SkinLab is unique—it will be the first and only concierge skin-care facility in our area,” says Dr. Nichols, “and will offer medical-grade products and premier aesthetic services tailored to each individual—all at the convenience of a walk-in with very little downtime.” Dr. Roth is excited that the Houston location is amidst the city’s “finest restaurants and boutiques” and in a “friendly environment that will encourage frequent, stress-free visits.”
