When planning for a big move, it can feel like there is endless amounts of research to do. From housing prices to regional delicacies, a lot goes into deciding where to call home. But, have you ever considered how the country you reside in could impact your skin? According to a new study by Healthnews, these are the best and worst countries for skin aging.

The Best and Worst Countries for Skin Aging

To determine which geographic locations are best and worst for skin health and aging, Healthnews compiled data surrounding solar radiation and air pollution levels into an Environmental Skin Aging Index. The index ranks countries by how positively or negatively their environmental conditions impact skin.

Overall, “the results suggest that people living in Northern European countries fare significantly better regarding skin aging than those living in Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula,” the press release for the study says. Egypt ranked worst for skin health and aging based on solar radiation and air pollution levels with surrounding countries like Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait following close behind. On the other hand, Ireland took the top spot as the most favorable country for skin aging, boasting the lowest solar radiation levels and the highest overall conditions for skin health.
