Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, starring Margot Robbie as the iconic doll herself and Ryan Gosling as Ken, isn’t set to hit theaters until July, but last week, fans were treated to the official trailer, and viewers were fawning over everything from Ken’s hilarious persona to the impeccable “Barbie foot” shot. Not only did the trailer create buzz for the film, an analysis by Flaunt Your Fashion found that the trailer also directly correlated to an incredible 157% increase in Google searches for “blonde hair dye.”
The site’s analysis found that, upon the release of the Barbie trailer on April 4, Google searches for the trend “blonde hair dye” skyrocketed 157%, to more than double the average, within just hours. Not only were fans immediately influenced by Robbie’s Barbie in regards to a new ‘do, they were also infatuated by the fashion, as searches for “Barbie style” increased 142% and “pink clothes” rose 174%.
“Barbie has been a staple of popular culture for decades with her instantly recognizable look,” a Flaunt Your Fashion representative explains, “and as these findings show, the excitement has also transcended into the fashion space, with many fans wanting to emulate Barbie’s iconic style, indicating that pink tones, cowboy boots, and bright patterns are set to make a big comeback this summer.” You know what they say, blondes have more fun, so it’s safe to say that blonde hair ‘dos and pink shoes are going to be all the rage this summer season.
