Alyssa Milano may have tested positive for Coronavirus antibodies, but her side effects are not just the run-of-the-mill cough, aches and fever—she also shared that she is losing a lot of hair as a result of the virus.

On Twitter, Milano shared, “I was acutely sick w/ COVID-19 in April. I still have many symptoms. I am what they call a ‘long hauler,’” she explained, which is when Coronavirus symptoms last much longer than the typical two weeks. Along with irregular periods, confusion and vertigo, the actress noted that her hair is getting thinner by the day.

In a later tweet from Sunday, Milano wrote, “65 percent of COVID-19 survivors surveyed report experiencing hair loss, among other long-term effects.” But she took the extra step on Instagram yesterday to show us how bad this grueling side effect really is.

In a video Milano posted of her post-shower brush, clumps of hair were coming out of her scalp. She finishes the video by saying, “One brushing. This is my hair loss from COVID-19. Wear a damn mask.”

The extensive comments Milano received on her video were enough to show that she’s not the only one struggling with this. One fan wrote, “I am having the same hair issue ? taking many different vitamins (nothing helping),” and another said, “I shed a lot of hair too. I had COVID in early March.”

Milano hasn’t had it easy as of late, with two COVID-19 tests coming back negative in the month of March despite her long list of debilitating symptoms. Once she was feeling better, her antibody test also shocked her with a surprising negative.

After a long four months suffering with lingering symptoms, Milano received another antibody test from a blood draw, which finally came back positive. Although we are learning about new symptoms every day, bodily changes as abrupt as Milano’s should not be overlooked. If you are experiencing symptoms like Milano’s or have questions, contact your doctor immediately.
