These 3 Celeb-Loved Acne Products Performed a Christmas Miracle on My Skin

Salicylic acid and Lili Reinhart are my Mr. and Mrs. Claus this year.

Personal Day

If you were among the people to huff and puff when you learned that another celebrity, Lili Reinhart, was launching a skin-care line, I’m going to have to ask you to take it back right now. I get it—we’re all skeptical of the seemingly endless flow of celebrities diving into beauty, but Personal Day from Lili Reinhart is a standout—and I’m qualified to say that as a beauty editor who has tried thousands of products.

Reinhart has long been open about her experience with acne, so the launch of this brand didn’t come out of left field. You can tell it was a passion project for the actress. However, none of that matters if the formulas are no good, so I put it to the test on my hormonal acne that’s been impossible to nail down after getting off birth control. Let me say, it worked some serious magic.

What I used:

Personal Day launched with five products in the line, but I was religious about using three in particular. I slathered Doing the Work Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment and Dive Deep Mevalonic Moisturizer all over my face day and night and used Even Keel Resurfacing Peel as a spot treatment.

Doing the Work Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment ($36)

It’s hard to decide who the star of the trio is, but I do know that this is the foundation of it all. I knew from first use I loved this treatment because it didn’t dry out my skin. It’s full of all the good stuff—salicylic acid, azelaic acid, niacinamide and zinc hyaluronate. Almost 100 percent of users agreed this one was a game changer in reducing breakouts and I can confirm I am deeply seated in that majority.

Dive Deep Mevalonic Moisturizer ($38)

Ahead of the curve, this moisturizer features a new-to-market ingredient, mevalonic acid, which bolsters skin repair. People with acne are often hesitant to use a moisturizer but trust that this formula will hydrate skin while working behind the scenes to calm the appearance of acne without adding any extra oil.

Even Keel Resurfacing Peel ($34)

This wash-off peel is recommended for use as a mask once or twice a week, but I opted to use it as a spot treatment on my blemishes to concentrate its power. It helps clear pores to prevent future breakouts and exfoliates to help fade signs of previous breakouts. Plus, the texture is a slimy dream.

The results:

Using these three products together over the course of a few weeks made a huge difference in my active acne as well as dark spots from past breakouts. In the age of instant gratification, it’s worth noting that nothing works overnight, but this is some of the fastest progress I’ve seen.
