Returning for her role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods—opposite Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren and Lucy Lui—Marta Milans portrayal of Rosa Vasquez, the foster mom to the children in the film, is an emotional one. It’s also a personal one, as Milans has been having an open conversation with fans regarding her own IVF journey. The 40-year-old recently chatted with us about why it’s important for her to keep the lines of communication flowing and some behind-the-scenes Biologique Recherche P50 intel from the film.

What are you most excited about as the movie premieres?

To share this story with the world. It’s a wonderful film that we’re all so proud of! It’s such a positive social message about family about hope for so many kids that don’t come from stable or healthy backgrounds—the ‘Shazamily’ is back to lift everyone’s spirits up! My character Mamma Rosa holds the heart of the movie. I’m so blessed and grateful I get to be in her skin again. This is why our movie is unique…because at the end of the day, it’s all about family and you get to see that so clearly in this sequel.

Can you share any glam moments from behind the scenes?

Mostly keeping your skin hydrated and following a good regimen of cleansing after filming for many hours in the heat and wearing makeup. My absolute must-have is Biologique Recherche P50 lotion…it keeps my skin clean and healthy.

Are there any Spanish beauty traditions you hold close to your heart? Likewise, any products you use from your home country?

Bioderma Micellar ($17) water as a makeup remover that I’ve been using for years together with Biologique Recherche P50 lotion. I got all my friends on it! Lately my friend Gabriella Wright got me into Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream ($92)—what a discovery! Thank you, Gaby.

You’ve been open about your IVF journey—what advice can you share with anyone going through it or considering it?

I’ve chosen to share my journey because I realized when I first decided to try it that no one prepares you for it. It can be a tough and lonely process and I wanted to open the conversation for other women and tell them that you’re not alone—I see you and I am there with you. It’s important to make sure you surround yourself with loved ones during the process and never lose hope. And know you are always welcome to reach out to me through my social media. I’m here to support you!
