Kylie Jenner has never been shy about a good selfie, but her latest batch came with a twist: white numbing cream smeared across her face and a derm’s chair instead of a red carpet.
Jenner posted the whole thing in real time on her Instagram Stories. First came a screenshot from a FaceTime call with sister Kendall, taken mid-appointment with numbing cream coating her skin, playfully captioning it to poke fun at how “crazy” she looked next to her sister’s makeup-free “cutie” face. A few hours later, she circled back with a fresher, post-treatment selfie, telling followers her skin was “already healing so nice.”
If you’re not familiar, microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which kickstarts the body’s own production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm and smooth. It’s become one of the go-to treatments for softening fine lines, scarring, and uneven texture. The appeal largely comes down to the quick turnaround: just some redness for a few hours, and you’re back to your routine.
Jenner has always kept things fairly open when it comes to her cosmetic routine. She’s previously discussed getting lip filler, and in 2019 told Paper Magazine that people assume she's “fully went under the knife,” which she’s denied, crediting much of her look to fillers and good hair and makeup instead.
This latest peek fits into a bigger moment happening across the Kardashian-Jenner family. Kim Kardashian shared makeup-free photos from a round of cosmetic treatments in South Korea, and Kris Jenner has spoken openly about her own procedures, too. It’s part of the family’s outsized influence on how the public views cosmetic treatments altogether.
For now, Jenner’s followers will have to settle for the glow-up in her Stories. Microneedling fans tend to agree it’s worth the appointment, and her skin post-treatment makes a pretty good case for that too.
