Ariel Tejada’s hands have painted the likes of Kylie Jenner, Gwen Stefani, Kim Kardashian, Rosalia and Shay Mitchell. And while the makeup pro tweaks his tricks depending on his muse, he says there’s one product he trusts on all of his clients, and one makeup mistake we should all be avoiding.
In celebration of Groupon Day, Groupon is offering a one-on-one masterclass with you. What is the most commonly asked makeup question you get from your followers and clients?
“A lot of followers want to learn how to carve a brow, or how to properly apply blush. I will be covering all of those topics in my private masterclass with whomever wins. I will also walk them through the best application tips on themselves! I jumped at this opportunity to team up with Groupon for this really special one-of-a-kind experience. I've never done this before, typically it's a much much larger group. To have such an intimate setting and be able to walk an individual through my steps one-on-one is very exciting and unique.”
What is one makeup mistake that can make clients look older than they are?
“Improperly using setting powder—a lot can go wrong with this. Do not overuse it, and use a brush to buff out so it leaves a seamless finish on the skin.”

What is a makeup trend that’s officially out, and what’s a trend you believe we’ll see all over 2022?
“I think all trends can be recycled, however I say bring back the 90’s matte look. This is my favorite!”
You have a long roster of celebrity makeup clients. Is there a makeup product you use on all of them?
“I use my Ariel x Morphe brushes on every single one of my clients. I think great makeup brushes are definitely the issue I was struggling with before I created my collaboration with Morphe. I spent a year perfecting the bristles and creating custom shapes I thought were missing in the market. If you don’t have a great set of brushes, regardless if they are mine, you need great brushes.”
