Celine Dion knows how to make an entrance, and her latest look proves the details matter just as much as the big moments. On Friday, October 9, during her comeback residency at Paris La Défense Arena, the singer wore a custom Schiaparelli pantsuit with gold embroidery, and her nails, created by celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec (@julieknailsnyc), were made to match.
“My nails for @celinedion to match her @schiaparelli pantsuit,” Kandalec captioned an Instagram carousel of close-ups. The look is a departure from the natural-looking nails Dion was photographed in earlier in her residency. The glossy, jet-black almond-shaped nails are swirled with abstract ribbons of sheer milky nude, each outlined in fine champagne-gold glitter that mimics the suit’s curling-rope embroidery.
To get the look, Kandalec tells NewBeauty she used Kokoist USA gel polish in E-148 Blackest Black ($11) for the base. For the swirling ribbons, she used Nail Thoughts NTM-17 in Cancer ($18), a silvery-gold magnetic gel with holographic flash glitter. She finished the manicure with teeny gold sequins from Japan for the floral cluster detail and to give the design some dimension.
It’s also in keeping with Kandalec’s signature approach of designing nails around the clothes. For Emily Blunt’s character in The Devil Wears Prada 2, she created a high-shine Essie Bordeaux manicure as sculptural as a Schiaparelli gown, and at the 2026 Oscars, she used a rose magnetic gel with golden shimmer to complement Rachel McAdams’s jewels. The gold sequins on Dion’s nails also echo the 3-D gold accents of the Fabergé egg manicure Kandalec has predicted will trend this fall.
