Tyra Banks is a 42-year-old mom of a 9-month-old baby and somehow looks as gorgeous as ever. So how does she do it? The model recently opened up to People. She dishes on what skincare step she does every night and how she maintains a work-life balance.

“A lot of people have told me that I look younger than I actually am,” said Tyra. “I really think it’s because I started exfoliating at birth!” The model explains that she exfoliates every night, and loves the extra deep-cleaning feel it delivers. “My mother always told me it doesn’t matter how much makeup you wear, if the canvas isn’t right, you’re going to look clumpy, lumpy, patchy and day.”
And over her smooth skin, she keeps her makeup minimal, opting for tinted moisturizer over foundation. “I don’t want people to say ‘Your makeup looks amazing.’ I want them to say ‘Wow, you look beautiful.’” She also loves how you can layer tinted moisturizer for more coverage when needed.

And while she may have her nightly skincare routine down, when it comes to her hair, change is key. She explains how she treats her hair more as an accessory, switching it up by wearing wigs. “My assistant thinks that my son is going to pull off my wig in public because he hold my hair like reins on a horse,” she jokes. “I pin it on really well so it doesn’t move, but I feel like one day it might, just a little bit.”
And her secret to balancing life and work? Focusing on just one thing at a time. She explains that she used to be a great multitasker, doing three things at once. But ever since she’s had her son, she’s changed her tune. “Now I’m like, ‘Mommy’s going on a call,’ and I give him to his dad.”
