When it comes to finding the best lash and brow serum, we gravitate toward the formulas that produce results without irritation. If you’ve ever used one that wasn’t compatible with your eyes, you probably experienced itching, dryness, and maybe even some redness or discomfort. I’ve been there, and it wasn’t pleasant. I also wear contacts, so I’m hyper-aware of any product I use on or around my eyes that could cause irritation. Therefore, when I discovered twenty/twenty beauty Get Growing Lash & Brow Serum, which is safe for sensitive eyes, I could breathe a sigh of relief.

What It Is

Incredibly conditioning and hydrating for dry and/or brittle lashes, this lash and brow serum supports healthy hair growth. With consistent use, it promotes the appearance of longer, fuller-looking lashes and brows. One look at the before-and-after images below, and you’ll see the potential results you can achieve. Different from water-based serums, this one is oil-based and only contains three ingredients, which, you guessed it, are all natural oils.

It not only nourishes the eyebrows and eyelashes, but also soothes dry eyes. The best part is that it delivers these benefits without using harmful or irritating ingredients. In my many years as a beauty editor, that is one of the top complaints I’ve heard about lash and brow serums. “They made my eyes itch,” or “they made my eyes red.” Some people have even reported their eye color changing as a result of using certain formulas. This serum is safe for sensitive eyes, as well as sensitive skin around the eyes.

Key Ingredients

A trio of efficacious oils—castor oil, coconut oil and argan oil—make up this doctor-developed formula. There are only three ingredients! Castor oil supports healthy hair growth for both the eyelashes and brows. “I’ve been using castor oil on dry eye patients for years to help soothe their painful symptoms,” says However, brand founder and ophthalmologist Dr. Diane Hilal-Campo. “After seeing many of them develop thicker, longer lashes over time from this treatment, I decided to make it the star ingredient in my serum.”

Coconut oil is super nourishing and has antibacterial properties, making it great for use around the eyes. Argan oil, also a staple in many skin-care products, helps condition and hydrate dry, brittle lash and brow hair. The serum is also free of controversial prostaglandin, which can bring about certain side effects. It’s vegan and cruelty-free as well.

How to Use It

At night, apply one pump of serum to clean, dry eyelashes with a clean finger. Focus on your upper and lower lash lines, at the root. Then use another pump of serum to swipe onto both eyebrows. The formula is very oily, so I recommend only using it at night. If you wear contacts and you’re using the serum on your lashes (sometimes I just use it on my brows), be sure to remove your contacts first. Just like using an oily cleansing balm on your eyes, anything oil-based can travel into your eyes and cause your lenses to become blurry.

However, Dr. Diane Hilal-Campo says you shouldn’t worry if you do get the serum into your eyes. “The ingredients are not just safe, they’re actually beneficial for your eye health!”
