CELEB PHOTOS MY PATIENTS MOST OFTEN BRING IN
Jennifer Garner, Grace Kelly and Angelina Jolie
Fillers have changed my career. To be able to translate what the patient already has into what they can achieve is an art form. As a cofounder of the Cosmetic Bootcamp (the leading core specialty training meeting), I work with plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons, head and neck surgeons and other dermatologists to learn better ways and new places to inject. Recently, we’ve started to inject fillers into the arms, chest, legs and neck
THREE WORDS THAT BEST DESCRIBE ME
Meticulous, curious, persistent
WHAT SETS MY PRACTICE APART
We really go above and beyond to make people happy
THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS MEDICAL MYTH I’VE HEARD
That Botox is poison
MOST MEMORABLE THING I LEARNED THIS YEAR
I learned a new way of injecting fillers while I was in Stockholm that really transformed my abilities
THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION ABOUT MY FIELD
That they can achieve their goals in
a single visit. Instead, I try to explain
the entire process of what we are
going to do and that the best results
don’t happen over night
MY DREAM INNOVATION
A cannula with a port on it so that I can see where the tip of it is
MY ULTIMATE SKIN-CARE ADVICE
Make sure you know the specific ingredients your skin needs. I formulated my ScientificRx line with professional-grade skin-care ingredients to provide patients with what they need to restore moisture and promote repair of damaged or aging skin
WHAT PERSONALITY TRAIT IS UNIQUE TO YOU?
My curiosity about doing things better or that have not been done before
WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOUR PRACTICE OFFERS THAT IS REALLY UNIQUE?
I try to evolve as I embrace new procedures and technologies. I love to learn new things and share them with my patients. I also own more than 15 lasers and energy devices so I have the ability to choose the exact device I need for the results I want to achieve
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MEDICAL MYTH YOU’VE EVER HEARD?
That injections done by discount providers are safe and effective
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LASER PROCEDURE?
My favorite is the Fraxel® DUAL which
can treat fine lines, skin texture and
superficial surface issues
WHY IS SKIN CARE SO IMPORTANT?
If you fix a table but put on a dirty ,
disgusting tablecloth, what do you
have? By using skin care with active
ingredients, I can showcase the skin
and really make someone shine. My
own products have the highest active
ingredients and although they may not
have the fanciest packaging, they are
still, in my opinion, the best products
WHAT NEW SERVICES ARE YOU EXCITED TO OFFER?
We are thrilled to be using microcannulae
to inject fillers with little
to no trauma. We are also using fillers
in areas other than the face, like
the hands, arms and legs. When
combined with laser treatments,
we now have the ability to totally
rejuvenate the entire body
WHAT ARE YOUR MOST REQUESTED PROCEDURES?
Our most frequent procedures are
Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Xeomin
and fillers. We are a regional training
center and conduct trials on new
products so we have experience and
access to advanced techniques before
most other doctors do. Because these
are my most common procedure, I
perform all of my own injections
rather than delegate them
HOW ARE YOU HELPING TO ADVANCE YOUR FIELD?
I founded and run the Cosmetic
Bootcamp, a leading training
program for dermatologists and
plastic surgeons. Because of this
and my work in clinical research,
we are able to provide the latest
products and techniques
WHAT NONSURGICAL TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING AT YOUR PRACTICE?
CoolSculpting® and Accent™ radio
frequency are both taking off
HOW I WOULD SPEND EXTRA TIME IN A DAY
Sculpt (just kidding).
I would probably write
and teach more
WHAT I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT
(the red ones)
WHAT’S ON YOUR OPERATING ROOM PLAYLIST?
I try to play low-level spa music,
Jimmy Buffett or the soundtrack
to Hamilton. Nothing too jarring or
intrusive, but instead music that is
calming or engaging
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE BEST FIRST IMPRESSION?
Sincerity and patience are facets
that I believe make the best and
most important impression. If the
patient realizes that you have their
best interests at heart, the rest of
the visit is much easier
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POST-TREATMENT REACTION FROM A PATIENT?
I love when they see themselves and
say, “Perfect!” or “Wow.” When they
are so happy, they always send their
friends and relatives to see me
