When it comes to skin care, a recent NewBeauty survey* of more than 1,300 readers reveals clear patterns in purchasing habits, with the vast majority acquiring new products on a regular basis. Let's dive in.

The results show that 48.4 percent of readers purchase new skin-care products once a month, making this the most common buying pattern. Following this, 36.6 percent of readers make new purchases every two to three months. These numbers align with typical product use-up rates, especially considering that most routines include multiple steps from cleansers to serums and moisturizers.

A smaller portion of readers—11.4 percent—add new skin-care products to their routines every four to six months. The survey found that less frequent purchases are uncommon, with only 1.5 percent of readers saying they rarely buy new products and 1.1 percent making purchases annually.

Overall, the numbers show that 85 percent of readers purchase new skin-care products at least quarterly. This frequency makes sense given that many products, when used consistently, typically last between one to three months. Additionally, as seasons change, so do skin-care needs, often prompting updates to daily routines.

Whether it's replenishing holy-grail products or trying new formulations that catch your eye, these survey results demonstrate that regular skin-care purchases are a common part of maintaining a consistent routine.
