30 years after her facelift, Academy Award-winning actress Shirley MacLaine has called it quits on cosmetic procedures. The actress recently admitted that she never felt right after having the procedure, and has now decided to let herself age naturally.
On why she decided to go under the knife all those years ago, MacLaine says, “I never cared how I looked or how I dressed until I was about 50. My roles in films weren’t dependent on beauty. But in my mid-50s I noticed I was getting a lot of offers of grandmother roles and I didn’t see myself that way.”
While she admits that she loved how she looked after the procedure, she also did get a little carried away with her appearance. She got to the point where she preferred restaurants that had many mirrors in them.
In the end, MacLaine chose to put an end to procedures for the sake of her career. “I want to play good parts that are my age. I don’t want to have the audience wonder if I’m making an expression or not.”
