For the last year, we’ve known the pop princess Sabrina Carpenter for her nostalgic, 60s-inspired “Short ‘n Sweet” style, from her voluminous, bright blond curls to her character heels and bandstand-style performances. But, with the release of her latest single, “Manchild,” it seems a new era might be upon us Sab fans. Carpenter is now swapping her sheer night dresses for daisy dukes and her pristine blond mane for a more lived-in, low-maintenance look, serving up the ultimate summer hair inspo and proving that recession hair really is the next big thing.
How to Recreate Sabrina Carpenter’s Lived-In, Low-Maintenance Blond
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been watching the “Manchild” music video and Primavera performances on repeat. And when I’m not caught up in the infectious lyrics, I’m marveling over her new ‘do. Lately, Carpenter has rocked a much curlier, 80s-esque hairstyle, differentiating itself most starkly from her previous look thanks to its dark roots. So, how does Carpenter maintain that perfectly lived-in, recession-core blond? A mish-mosh of newly launched Redken products, of course!
“I used Redken Flash Lift with Bonder Inside—my go-to for lift,” says colorist and Redken ambassador Laurie Heaps on Carpenter’s new low-maintenance blond. “It gives me total control without damaging the hair. I used 10 volume at the back and around the hairline, then bumped it up to 20 volume on top and sides. I remove foils as they’re ready with a damp towel, letting the rest keep processing. After shampooing, I glossed her roots with Redken’s new Shades EQ Pearl Vinyl Blondes in 8NV to add that soft, grown-in vibe. Then we gave her a little trim, added face-framing layers and brought the bangs back—with a modern, disconnected feel.”
