Looking firmer is one of the rewards of liposuction, but feeling firmer could be a sign of hardening scar tissue.
It’s not uncommon to sense a firm feeling in areas treated by liposuction. You may also experience relatively normal dimpling, asymmetry or lumps that can be felt beneath the skin. Massage is an effective way to combat too much hardening. Wearing a compression garment can help, too.
If these symptoms don’t improve within six months after liposuction, you should talk to your doctor about secondary procedures, such as suctioning additional fat or grafting fat from one area to another to fill a dimple or depression.
