There are so many bras out there, it can be hard to decide which one is right for you. Instead of picking one based on how pretty it looks, consider the kind of style that makes the best of your breasts.
UNDERWIRE
Appropriate for all breast shapes and sizes, underwire bras are the most common and popular because they offer good shaping and support-as long as they’re fitted properly. (You know it’s not fitting correctly if it’s poking or pinching you, or the wire is popping out of the casing.)
DEMI
Best for small and average-sized breasts, this is a half cup or low-cut bra. Because the straps are located farther to the sides, a demi bra provides less support for fuller breasts.
CONTOURING
Best for medium to large sizes, contouring bras have a thin foam or fiberfill lining to shape and lift breast tissues. This lining also provides coverage over the nipple.
MINIMIZING
Ideal for large-busted women who want to minimize both the size and projection of their breasts, these bras pull breasts closer to the ribcage for a more rounded, softer silhouette.
PUSH-UP
Perfect for small and medium sizes looking for increased cleavage, a push-up bra will feature either an integral push-up shape or a bump in the bottom half of the cup to push breast tissue up and out. This creates a rounder, more voluptuous look.
LIFTING
Best for average or larger busts, and not the same as a push-up, lifting bras feature less stretch in the cup and band to give more lift. All bras should do some lifting because that’s what their fundamental purpose is.
Keep in mind, many of these features may overlap in single bra styles, which means more benefits for your breasts. Getting fitted by an expert can help you pinpoint exactly what you want and need in your next bra.
