The stratospheric take-off of the old money bob trend brought this stylist-loved look to the forefront last year. “The old money bob is a classic and polished hairstyle known for its sleek, chin-length cut,” explains celebrity hairstylist and TRUSS ambassador Asil Simsek. “It’s elegant and timeless, perfect for a sophisticated look that works well in both formal and professional settings.”
And in 2025, we’re seeing small updates that make this look even more chic.
“The extreme polish and rigid structured looks are starting to soften,” notes celebrity stylist and Moroccanoil ambassador Dimitris Giannetos. “We are seeing more movement, a natural texture and a less ‘perfect’ finish. Instead of that ultra-precise, tucked-under look, people are embracing a slightly undone feel—think soft bends, airy layers and a bit of tousle for that effortless richness!”
How to Get the Look
Rather than a straight cut, the latest version of the old money bob is a little more tousled and lived-in. That’s accomplished with carefully applied texture to create movement and a light, airy feel.
“It’s all about precision and balance,” Giannetos explains. “I focus on beautiful, clean, face-framing lines while considering natural texture and density. The right weight removal keeps it from looking bulky, and a sharp yet soft perimeter makes it feel modern.”
We’re sort of going for summering on the beach in the Hamptons or Hilton Head Island—a hairstyle that fits with a sweater tied over the shoulders and a regular pickleball schedule. The goal is a bob that looks just as expensive styled sleek as it does left alone. “A great cut should air dry just as well as it blow-dries—that’s the real test of chicness and effortless beauty!” Giannetos says.
