The uniquely short bristles on this brush surprised me at first, but after using this tubing mascara a few times, I realized the design was intentional. If you hold the brush against your lash line before combing it through your lashes, it deposits jet-black color onto your water line, creating an eyeliner effect. It doesn’t irritate my eyes either.

Plus, you don’t need an oil-based makeup remover to take it off. Water does the trick.

If you hate clumping, this brand-new formula from the mascara gurus at Benefit is one to try. The brush combines long and short bristles that really spread out the lashes for a visible fanning effect. Plus, the brush curves at 40 degrees, which in the brand’s testing, was the perfect angle to hug every eye shape.

Clinique High Impact Hi-Fi Full Volume Mascara ($27)

Available in black and black-brown (brown mascara is still trending this year), this ophthalmologist-tested formula is safe for those with sensitive eyes. In addition to volumizing the lashes by depositing black nylon fibers among them, it also offers big lash-conditioning benefits with the addition of coconut, argan and moringa oils.

If You Want a Mascara and Lash Serum in One:

Babe Original 4Real Mascara ($15)

We’ve been fans of Babe Original’s Lash Serum since we first tried it a few years ago, so it makes sense that the brand formulated this mascara to include nourishing benefits. The combination of apple stem cells, olive stem cells, shea butter, and castor seed oil takes this mascara to a treatment level. And at just $15, it’s a total steal!
