Sistas castmates Tunde Oyeneyin and Jordan Coleman arrived at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards with matching energy and a shared philosophy on getting red-carpet ready even when the invite comes together fast. “We didn’t really know we were coming here, but here we are,” Coleman laughed, referring to their last-minute plans.
Ahead, the castmates share the skin-care habits they swear by on set, how they prepped for the VMAs and what they do when the makeup comes off.
The pre-show prep: Consistency over panic
For Coleman, staying camera-ready is a year-round commitment. “I go to Skin Laundry every single month, no matter what,” she shared. “I have a subscription, and I’ve been going for like a year.” It’s the habit behind her signature line of the night, one Oyeneyin quoted right back at her: “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready. That’s my motto,” Coleman confirmed.
Oyeneyin’s approach leaned more last-minute but no less deliberate. “I’m a big believer in a sauna,” she said. “I love a sauna with an infrared moment. I saunaed the last few days, and I intended to do the facial thing, but completely ran out of time. I did a mask yesterday, and I hoped for the best!”
On set, the rule is: Don’t experiment
Both women agreed on one skin-care rule during a shoot: Stick with what you know. “My biggest thing is don’t change anything,” Coleman said. “When you’re getting ready for something, or you’re about to shoot a show, do the same thing you’ve been doing.” Oyeneyin jumped in with the corollary: “Don’t try a new skin-care product!” Coleman’s rule of thumb: “If it works, it works. Don’t go do the brand-new facial that you’ve never done before. That’s how you irritate your skin, and you can be working with things you don’t know how to deal with.”
For Oyeneyin, the one product she won’t shoot a scene without is an eye mask. “I’m a big fan of Peter Thomas Roth, the under-eye heavenly moment,” she said. “Then Medicube makes these masks I get it off Amazon. It’s four masks for $18. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on this single-use one mask. This, hands down, is my favorite mask on the planet. I do that every single morning. Especially on set, it’s long, crazy hours. The skin is tired, so that helps me look and feel my best.”
How they’re closing out the night
While plenty of VMAs guests were headed to after-parties, Oyeneyin had a flight to catch. “I will be on a plane at 9:30, so I will probably change in the car, and then have whatever pizza they have at the airport; I’ll probably be starving,” she said.
Her in-flight skin care is as dialed in as her red-carpet prep: “Perfect airplane clutch moment is 4AM Skin. They have a towel packet, and you can take off your entire face with just one face mask. On the plane, I always have my 4AM Clean Sheets ($23) and then my La Mer moisturizer.”
Coleman knows the feeling of leaving an event and wanting the makeup off immediately. “There’s a lot of times where you’re leaving an event and you’re like, I wish I could take all of this makeup off right now!” she said. Once home, she sticks to her usual routine: “I use my Clinique Take the Day Off ($44). Then I go over it with my Youth to the People face wash, put on my hyaluronic acid, put on my Egyptian Magic, and call it a day. My eye mask, and I’m out.”
