In my years as a chronically online teen, few eras were more iconic than that of Kylie Jenner’s “King Kylie” phase. While the Kylie Cosmetics founder and now mom-of-two may have laid to rest the teal hair and over-lined lips in favor of a more mature, pared-back aesthetic, sometimes King Kylie can’t help but peak through. Last week at the Academy Museum Gala, the 2016 persona seemed to rear it’s bright blue head, as Jenner brought back her XXL nails for the occasion.
Kylie Jenner Goes Back to Her Roots With Talon-Like Nails
As Jenner has embraced her motherhood era and hung up her King Kylie extensions for a more subtle lifestyle, we’ve been missing out on her iconic, extra-long nails which we relied on for over-the-top manicure inspiration. But, as Jenner’s nail tech Zola Ganzorigt put it in her caption for Jenner’s Academy Museum Gala look dump, “The long nails are back!!!”
Complementing her vintage Mugler gown and old-Hollywood glam, Jenner’s return to lengthy acrylics are perfectly suited to her more elevated aesthetic. While the length and shape of her razor-sharp tips is reminiscent of her King Kylie days, the muted, glossy nude shade is very 2024, making it the perfect way to dip her toes—or fingers—back into the long nail pool.
