Dealing with anxiety is a subject Kyle Richards doesn’t like to stay silent on—referring to her “crippling” condition in interviews, via social media posts and during filming of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
But the 51-year-old, mother-of-four tell us that, during this collectively stressful time, she’s “oddly enough” handling it pretty well.
“My anxiety gets bad when I have no control,” says Richards, who’s been hunkering down since before the stay-at-home order. “But I have all my ducks in a row right now—literally, since all of my family ducklings are at home with me. I have control. There’s no one coming in and no one going out.”
Richards, who typically swears by SoulCycle classes, still pegs exercise as a big part of her anxiety-alleviating process. “I have a Peloton group of friends and we take a class together every day from our homes. It really helps and we help push each other.”
One other change in her post-workout routine: swapping her normal shower for a long, hot bath.
“My husband [Mauricio Umansky] wants to know what I’m doing in there for so long! It helps me relax to just sit and apply a face mask and some eye masks on top of that.”
Richards also says she’s actually become, uncharacteristically, a “little more lax” when it comes to her daughters’ beauty routines.
“Usually, I am very strict with the girls when it comes to hair color, tattoos, etc.—but anything goes right now. Portia [Richards’ 12-year-old daughter] dyed her hair pink and I’m letting her wear fake nails. All the rules are currently out the window!”
