Kourtney Kardashian Barker says she feels “lucky” as she shares details behind her “terrifying” journey through an unexpected medical procedure during her pregnancy. In a new interview with Vogue, the reality star, 44, has opened up about her recent experience with an emergency fetal surgery she underwent in September.

“That experience opened my eyes to a whole new world of pregnancy that I hadn’t known about in the past,” Kardashian Barker revealed, reflecting on the ordeal she faced while expecting her fourth child. “It was terrifying. I also learned that insurance typically only covers two ultrasounds during pregnancy; I had no idea,” she continued. “I’ve always been fortunate enough to go beyond what insurance covers, and one of those ultrasounds saved my baby’s life.”

The Lemme founder also disclosed that she doesn’t have a “birth plan.” Instead, she maintains a continuous dialogue with her unborn child, reassuring them, “Everything is going to be amazing.” She also expressed her readiness to embrace childbirth once again. “I’m prepared to welcome the baby and savor the unique journey that awaits us.”

Despite being labeled a “geriatric pregnancy,” Barker finds solace in having the best physicians by her side. “My doctors are exceedingly cautious, and I’ve encountered more restrictions than in my previous pregnancies.”

She also recounted the limitations she faced during her pregnancy journey, including refraining from exercise, air travel, and intimacy during the initial trimester. She shared, “During the second trimester, I had more freedom, but now, I’m back to adhering to all those restrictions.”
