When I read that Jessica Chastain is nearing 50 years old, I audibly gasped. I want to know all the skin-care secrets of the ageless actress. Luckily, her role as global ambassador for True Botanicals means Chastain is frequently spilling the exact products she’s using.

On Instagram, Chastain called out the organic beauty brand’s Chebula Extreme Cream ($110) as the “perfect moisturizer.” She added: “Doesn’t clog pores. Doesn’t make my skin feel sticky. Thank you @truebotanicals for introducing me to my latest addiction.” Chastain isn’t the only one to give this anti-aging moisturizer the seal of approval: 100% of participants in a clinical study agreed Chebula Extreme Cream made their skin look and feel smoother, softer, more glowy and deeply hydrated.

In a conversation with The Strategist, the Scenes From a Marriage star shared more of her beauty favorites. First up: lip balm. Specifically Fresh Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm ($21) in Mango. “I love that this isn’t sticky. I think some lip balms can be a little sticky, and I have a pet peeve that if my hair gets stuck on it, it’s not something I want to wear. This just feels natural: I love the smell; it’s kind of sweet.”

Speaking of fragrance, the Oscar-winner revealed a fun secret: she chooses a different scent for each character she plays. And while she admits she doesn’t have her own signature scent, she does have a favorite perfumery: Le Labo. “I have multiple that I wear, and I love the orange-blossom one.”

When it comes time to caring for her red hair, Chastain says “It’s all about the moisture.” To keep her strands hydrated she relies on Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer ($52)—with her own unique spin. “I don’t even use it as directed; I use it maybe a couple times a week when I take a shower, I’ll put it on the ends of my hair, twist my hair up into a topknot, and go to sleep like that with wet hair. I never rinse it out; I just keep it in my hair overnight.”

For skin care, Chastain’s high praise for True Botanicals continues. This time it’s for the brand’s new Phyto-Retinol Sleep Serum ($90). “I love retinol because I also don’t like wrinkles,” she explains, “but traditional retinol, I think because I’m a redhead and because I have dry skin, could leave me with little dry patches and flaky and not so great [skin]. The True Botanicals retinol works two times faster than the traditional retinol, and it doesn’t leave my skin with those side effects.”
