When you’ve made the decision to invest in any in-office treatment, knowing the best way to maintain the results is key. “Everything starts with healthy skin. It takes the combination of in-office treatments and patients doing their part at home to maintain the results,” says New York dermatologist Marina Peredo, MD.

We asked eight highly respected doctors to share the at-home products that help maximize the effects—and longevity—of your go-to in-office treatments.

Treatment: Microneedling

According to Melville, NY dermatologist Kally Papantoniou, MD, Skinceuticals C E Ferulic ($166) is an important part of microneedling maintenance. “I use this every morning—it is gentle of the skin and powerful for brightening and tightening.”

“We recommend SkinBetter AlphaRet Overnight Cream ($125) for use seven to 10 days after treatment,” adds Newport Beach, CA plastic surgeon Sanjay Grover, MD. “It is a non-irritating yet powerful retinoid formula that reduces fine lines and photo-damage and will continue the improvement of texture and tone after your microneedling treatments. I also like ZO Skin Health Growth Factor Serum ($148). It’s a lightweight gel, has anti-inflammatory properties, restores the skin barrier, and uses plant-based growth factors to improve firmness and elasticity.”

“We are seeing great results when patients are following up their microneedling protocols with a product called AFA Gel Mild 11% ($88), says Omaha, NE dermatologist Joel Schlessinger, MD. “This treatment gel contains vitamin C to further support the collagen production microneedling induces, but what makes this product special is a unique dermatologist-developed molecule called afaLUXE. It provides excellent exfoliation to further improve fine lines, acne and uneven tone and texture. Unlike other rejuvenating treatments, it works with the skin’s natural moisture barrier, resulting in virtually no irritation or added dryness.”

“SecretRF [by Cutera] is a fractional radiofrequency microneedling system that can be customized to each patient. It adds radiofrequency to a microneedling treatment. The trauma created stimulates new collagen and the heat of the needle will take existing collagen and tighten it,” explains Dr. Peredo. Her post-treatment recommendation? PrimaSkin ($60). “It uses nano-technology that nano-sizes ingredients including Glutathione (GSH), hyaluronic acid, collagen, NAD+ and N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). It is fast-absorbing and helps with inflammation, detoxification, and brightening of the skin.”

“I have patients use the Nu Face Trinity ($325) to tighten the skin and support my office treatments,” says Delray Beach, FL dermatologist Dr. Janet Allenby. “I have found that dedicated patients see the best result, as usual, for both the face and body with noticeable improvement. I’m not a fan of at-home skin pens (micro-needling) since it can cause too much skin trauma and potential infection.”

Treatment: Injectable Wrinkle-Reducers

“While at-home devices won’t necessarily remove lines and wrinkles, once a neurotoxin is used, SiO Beauty BrowLift Wrinkle-Smoothing Patches ($25) may help to extend your wrinkle-free results,” says New York plastic surgeon B. Aviva Preminger, MD. “I like Skinbetter’s AlphaRet Overnight Cream ($125) to help with long-term anti-aging and to improve fine lines.”

According to Dr. Grover, SkinBetter Interfuse Intensive Treatment ($130) is his go-to for injectable patients. “This targeted treatment product for deeper expression lines takes a large injectable-grade hyaluronic acid and delivers it effectively into the skin using a patented delivery technology. This helps to enhance the results of both filler and neurotoxins.”

Treatment: Injectable Filler

“Patients who invest in volumizing dermal fillers want to maintain those results for as long as possible,” says Dr. Schlessinger. “Incorporating an at-home treatment serum that supports collagen production and keeps the moisture barrier healthy is important in supporting those results. After treatment, I recommend patients use the LovelySkin LUXE Cellular Anti-Aging Peptide Serum ($125) twice a day. This advanced serum contains powerful anti-aging ingredients like peptides to support collagen production, but also fights signs of skin fatigue like dullness, dryness and wrinkles with persian silk tree extract.”

To enhance filler injectable results and help minimize post-injection side effects, such as bruising and swelling, we offer Alastin’s INhance Post-Injection Serum ($55),” says Dr. Preminger.

Another better-healing option, according to New York facial plastic surgeon Jennifer Levine, MD: LightStim ($249). “It is a handheld LED device, great for bruising and healing after injectables, lasers or surgery and it’s great for wrinkles and anti-aging.”

Treatment: Body Contouring

“I love to combine body-contouring treatments with Alastin TransFORM Body Treatment ($195),” says Dr. Jennifer Levine. “I have my patients massage the treated area twice a day, and it improves and accelerates the results as well as helping skin texture and quality.”

In Dr. Papantoniou’s opinion, Revision Bodifirm ($15) does the trick. “With its powerful peptide technology, it builds collagen and improves elasticity. We love the results we get with this cream.”

“I recommend my patients try the NuFACE NuBODY Skin Toning Device ($399) to use between in-office fat reduction, body contouring and skin tightening treatments,” says Dr. Schlessinger. “This at-home device uses between 700 and 900 microamps of microcurrent to further tone, smooth and firm skin to improve the look of dimples. The results are unique for a home-based device and what’s great about this device is it can be used all over the body, including the upper arms, buttocks, abdomen area and thighs.”

Treatment: Facial Skin Tightening

After a skin-tightening procedure, Dr. Preminger recommends using the Environ Cosmetic Gold Roller at home to improve the penetration of topical creams and serums. “The minimal microneedling will also stimulate the growth of collagen and help to improve the skin tightening results,” she adds.

Treatment: Laser Resurfacing

ZO Skin Health Daily Power Defense ($150) is antioxidant-rich and supports skins natural DNA repair,” says Dr. Grover. “Also, SkinBetter Science Even Tone Correcting Serum ($145) is a non-hydroquinone serum that breaks down melanocytes and helps reduce red, brown, and yellow tones in the skin to improve overall complexion.”

According to New York plastic surgeon Elie Levine, MD, “Using a peptide cream after a rejuvenating laser treatment can further enhance collagen regeneration. The smooth, moisturizing PSD Dermal Restructuring Cream promotes rebuilding of the skin and prevents further skin damage, while PSD Facial Firming Therapy smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, providing immediate firming and tightening and preparing the skin for collagen rebuilding. The duo gives you a fuller, brighter post-treatment look.”

Treatment: Hair Restoration

”The HairMax LaserBand 41 ($545) stimulates hair follicles, reverses thinning, and restores your hair’s natural growth cycle, giving you a fuller, denser look,” says Dr. Elie Levine. “It is great combined with PRP injections to the scalp or hair transplants and best of all, it can be used in the comfort of your own home.”
