Jessica Alba’s Honest Company, beloved by moms everywhere for its safe, organic formulas, is conducting a voluntary recall of its Organic Baby Powder after concerns that it may have caused eye and skin infections. News reports show testing on this particular product revealed possible microorganism contaminations during production.

The baby powder, which is marketed as “extra gentle, certified organic and talc-free,” has been available in stores since April 14, 2016 and the product’s UPC number is 817810014529.
In a video posted on Honest Co’s blog Honestly, cofounder Christopher Gavigan, along with Alba, said, “With the full knowledge and under the guidance of the FDA, we’ve decided to voluntarily recall this product out of an abundance of caution. On behalf of my cofounders and everyone here at Honest, I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. This decision, like all of our decisions, was guided by our ongoing commitment to the health, well-being and satisfaction of our customers.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first bit of bad news for Honest Co and not the ideal way to kick off the new year. Since 2015, the company has been under fire twice for allegedly making false claims that its products were “natural” or “organic,” as both the Organic Consumers Association and experts who led a Wall Street Journal investigation sought to prove otherwise.
