Give Your Hair a Facial at Byuti

Give Your Hair a Facial at Byuti featured image

My hair has never felt this good in my entire life. And coming from someone with colored and damaged hair, that’s saying a lot. It’s all because of a treatment I recently got at Pureology’s flagship hair salon, Byuti (pronounced “beauty”) Salon, in Brentwood, CA.

The Byuti Blender basically works like a facial. They create a customized hair masque that’s tailored to your hair’s needs. You can choose two of six options to create your masque:

  • The shine boost uses hibiscus and daisy extracts to help restore your hair’s natural shine and brilliance.
  • The over-processed boost contains jojoba, keratin extracts and grain protein to help reverse the damage that comes with heat styling your hair.
  • The protein rebuilder strengthens your hair with pomegranate and strawberry extracts.
  • The thickener boost revives thinning hair with pomegranate and date extracts and rice protein.
  • The smoother boost contains honeysuckle extracts and maize protein to help tame dry and frizzy hair.
  • The oily boost eliminates dandruff and flat hair with yucca and keratin extracts and grain protein.

Once the masque is applied, you sit under a Japanese steam machine that heats up your hair and allows all the nutrients to penetrate the deepest layers of your hair. At the end of the 12-minute steam, a refreshing “cool shot” of cold air helps seal the hair cuticle and lock the treatment in.

To put it simply, “It’s basically an infusion that you add into a conditioner, so it gives it an extra boost,” says salon owner and Pureology Ambassador Natasha Sunshine. It also pairs well with color. “If you do a color and treatment on the same day, your hair feels incredible.”

Afterwards, my hair felt like butter. It was silky, shiny and soft. It also smelled amazing—I was receiving compliments left and right about how good my hair smelled for the next two days.

The treatment alone is $35, but you can pair it with a blowout for $60 altogether—which I highly recommend. Sunshine recommends you do the treatment every six weeks, as you would with a facial.
