Fight Dandruff From The Inside Out

Fight Dandruff From The Inside Out featured image

You know when you’re dealing with dandruff. One flip of the hair, one scratch of the head, one turtle neck pull over, and it looks like a very un-magical little fairy crop dusted your shoulders. Not the most desirable of looks. Itchy, dry scalp is annoying, plain and simple. There are, however, ways to deal with it aside from the blue and white bottle and it starts with your diet.

The same way diet affects the way your skin looks (and the tightness of your jeans), the same rule of thumb applies to your hair. A diet that’s void of the right nutrients, or over abundant with the wrong foods, can result in the big D.

So what should you be including in your diet? Zinc. It’s necessary to repair damaged hair and cells, plus it reduces the incidence of dandruff. Since it’s found in whole grains, say buh-bye to your Atkins diet.

Foods to avoid? When eating for the sake of your hair health, you may want to cut your intake of coffee, alcohol, black tea, and sugar by at least half since they can prevent the absorption of B vitamins, iron and zinc.

Also, important to note, some forms of birth control can actually hinder your body from properly absorbing zinc and vitamin B that are found in daily vitamins.
