If you love Essie nail polish, you’re on the long list of fans that includes Joan Rivers, Kate Middleton and HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Now, it looks like you, and all of those famous followers, will be able to have the ultimate Essie experience as founder, Essie Weingarten, is set to open her first-ever nail salon in New York.

The salon resembles Weingarten’s famous rectangular bottles of polish. Designed by architect Peter Millard, the salon is entirely glossy white except for the leather love seats that have been dyed in Essie’s most famous hues, from A-List to Raisinnuts. As you lounge in the luxurious love seats, you can stare across to the ‘wall of colors’ that holds each of the company’s iconic shades, around 300 in all.

“It’s really an out-of-bottle experience,” says Weingarten, who founded the brand in 1981 and now has her polish in more than 100,000 salons across the country. “For years, it was ‘I hope I can get my polish into this nail bar or that salon,’ and they would call and place an order. Now when I drive down Sixty-fifth Street and see my name on the awning, I can’t believe it.”

Essie’s salon is a perfect fit inside the newly renovated Samuel Shriqui Salon. For over twenty years, Weingarten has gone there to get weekly manicures from lead manicurist Josephine Allen. And, of course, you will be able to get her signature manicure upon request – a coat of Blushing Bride followed by a coat of Mademoiselle. You may even end up next to Essie herself!

When the Essie Flagship Salon officially opens on June 26, you can stop in for a manicure priced from $32 and a pedicure from $65.
