In the age of social media and all the unrealistic expectations that come with it, its becoming more and more common for our favorite celebs to get real about when they’ve gotten work done to their face or body. With less stigma around plastic surgery as well as an increased appreciation for honesty with fans, tons of our favorite A-listers are getting real about the steps they’ve taken to feel more confident. Last week, Real Housewives of Orange County’s Emily Simpson opened up to Instagram followers about her recent facelift and all the steps she took before making the jump.
Posting a remarkable before and after comparison of her side profile pre and post-op, Simpson begins by telling readers that despite not knowing the exact culprit—”being middle-aged, gaining 30 pounds and then losing it, menopause…”—the television star couldn’t help but see herself on screen and notice how she “completely lost” her jawline. She then explains that after much research and many consultations she decided to take the plunge.
Simpson reveals that she opted for a mini lower face and neck lift, which she entrusted Newport Beach, CA plastic surgeon Siamak Agha, MD to complete. Thoroughly pleased with the results, the celeb explains that she credits Dr. Agha for doing such “an amazing job” since she still looks like her old self, just “before [her] jawline packed up and left town.” Simpson also noted that she went to Dr. Agha for several other procedures, like her breast lift, fat transfer and breast implant removal.
Though she does praise the efficacy of her neck and facelift, Simpson also explained that she still “works out consistently” and takes a “combo approach” to beauty, jokingly admitting that “once you reach a certain age there are just things you cannot change naturally.”
When it comes to being candid and real about what one does to feel their best, Simpson herself sums it up best: “All women are allowed to choose what they do with their bodies and how they would like to age. From completely natural to surgery, it’s up to each woman.”
