Popular skin-care brand Drunk Elephant has voluntarily recalled three of its products.
As announced on the brand’s Instagram and site Saturday, the recall affects “a small number of lots” in the United States, including Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser, Protini Polypeptide Cream, Lala Retro Whipped Cream and sample packets of Lala found inside the carton of O-Bloos Rosi Drops. “We ask customers who have affected products to stop using them,” the statement read.
The brand added that the O-Bloos Rosi Drops product itself is not affected.
All affected products have been identified by lot codes, detailed on a chart on the Drunk Elephant site. Affected lots include purchases from the brand’s site, Ulta, Sephora, Sephora at Kohl’s and Amazon. It also impacts sampling from Ulta and Sephora.
Drunk Elephant offered this explanation for the recall: “Due to an isolated ingredient mix-up between preservatives and surfactants during production, the formulation of certain lots of these products were compromised.”
The brand also provided additional formulation details for specific products. For the Jelly Cleanser, “affected lots of this product contain additional preservative ingredient Microkill COS (chlorphenesin, caprylyl glycol and phenoxyethanol) not listed on the product ingredient list,” the brand explained. “This ingredient is commonly used in cosmetics, but may cause a temporary adverse skin reaction in those with a specific sensitivity to this ingredient.”
Drunk Elephant is offering a full refund and a product replacement for the affected products.
