A Minute With
1
How important is a great smile?
When you smile with confidence, people will perceive you as friendlier and more approachable. A lack of confidence in your smile can close you off to the world, whereas a smile you’re proud of can open you up.
2
What do you love most about your profession?
There is nothing more satisfying than witnessing a patient’s reaction when they see their new smile for the first time. It’s a high honor.
3
How do you ease patient fears?
The most important factor in helping a patient through their fear is trust. Taking the time to communicate with your patient and walk them through every step is necessary to establishing that trust, so they understand exactly what to expect. Most patients are soothed by simply knowing what is about to happen, and that communication greatly reduces their anxiety. In extreme cases, of course, there are also medications that can help us bypass the issue.
4
What are you the most proud of about your practice?
The moments when a patient has seen their full transformation are irreplaceable to me, and are what make me the most proud of my work.
5
What is your main focus when doing cosmetic dentistry?
Every patient is different, and that while guiding principles like the golden ratio are useful, they aren’t always what’s right for every person. Each smile transformation has to be approached in a personalized way to be a success.
