With extensive training and focused experience, board- certified oculoplastic surgeon and inflammatory specialist Dr. Raymond Douglas is known as the go-to “Eye Guy.” Renowned for delivering natural results and compassionate care, he has honed specialized surgical techniques to address both aesthetics and function, taking on highly complex cases, revision work, changes resulting from eye disease, such as thyroid related eye disease, and the full range of effects of aging around the eyes. His contributions to the industry include unique decompression techniques to reposition the eyes and address lid retraction, bulging, hollows, fat expansion, and facial contouring to alleviate symptoms and allow patients to look like themselves again. Why do you employ a less-is-more approach?

Too much of one spice spoils even the best dish. We are conservative with multiple techniques to create a natural look and feel. Making the patient look overdone can create a dated look, change expressions and actually be aging. A fresh, natural, sophisticated approach to rejuvenation is always in style
What new services are you most excited to offer?

Our practice is on the cutting edge of blepharoplasty revision, ptosis and prominent eyes; scar reduction and surgery for patients with protruding eyes and thyroid eye disease. We have developed advanced compression surgeries and the undetectable “Eye Lipo,” which is performed completely behind the eye, in the socket
What is your most requested procedure?

Cosmetic surgery restoring natural eye appearance and functionality as a revision procedure or after disease
How can you tell if an eyelift or browlift is appropriate?

We do a lot of discussion in the office and some testing. We also look at old photos to know what things looked like before. We may also try a few other advanced protocols or technologies to gauge skin reaction and improvements before the surgical option. But generally, I have experience doing this thousands of times over two decades and I am pretty clear on when the skin will no longer react to treatment and surgery is the patient’s best option. There are various ways to approach the surgery now, and there are times a browlift may not be necessary. We are doing fewer and fewer of these
How do you show patients you care post-treatment?

I spend an inordinate amount of time on follow-up with my patients. I tweak with fillers as needed and I meet in person, via telemedicine or check-in calls during the post-surgery process
