The 78th Cannes Film Festival has been the backdrop of a ton of celebrity hair transformation reveals this year. First, it was Bella Hadid, who touched down in France the day before the event officially began and revealed a show-stopping new honey blond hair color. Shortly after that, Kristen Stewart showed off her effortlessly cool blond hair with ends that were dip-dyed pink to match her light pink, tweed Chanel suit. Now, the most recent star to be added to that list is Cara Delevingne, who showed up wearing a shaggy haircut dyed jet black with blunt bangs.

Delevingne was attending the premiere of The History of Sound, where she wore a blood red, floor-length gown with a balloon skirt. Her dress was pretty tame (likely due to the festival’s new rules against “voluminous outfits” and daring dresses), but her hair did all the talking anyway. Her jet black shag was styled in a freshly wet look and her bangs hung nearly an inch above her eyebrows.

For most of her career, the model has been known to wear her hair in its signature dirty blond color, though there have been other times she’s pulled off bold hair changes. She wore a platinum blond wig that was styled in a pixie cut to the 2023 Met Gala, and she’s also experimented with a her length a few times, from chin-length bobs to tresses that flow past her shoulders.

It’s unclear what inspired her new jet black color, but that obviously won’t stop me from adding it to my summer mood board.
