Is Your Concealer The Right Color?
By NewBeauty Staff |
Since quite a few of us don't have "perfect" skin, concealer becomes a necessity, especially as we age. With the right concealer (color and consistency), you can cover everyday imperfections and under eye circles.
However, it's important to keep in mind that the key phrase in that previous statement is the "right concealer," as the wrong one can leave you with a white, blotchy mess-like the one seen to the left on actress Taraji P. Henson.
Concealers come in many different colors and that's for a reason. Gone are the days you just pick a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. Today, there is a wide range of pastel-colored concealers to choose from. Here is a breakdown of the colors you should use and for what purpose.
Light-green concealers will cover redness in the skin: common of acne, scars and birthmarks.
Pink shades balance out blue and gray tones which tend to show up under eyes.
Yellow-based concealers brighten by evening out pink tones.
Orange and peach
Great for darker skin, orange shades correct blue tones under the eyes.
Purple and blue
Cool colors like purple and blue counteract yellowness in the skin to brighten.
