The Obagi Nu-Derm System ($428) is a 7-step skincare collection that uses prescription-strength hydroquinone to fade sun spots, age spots and other types of discoloration that may occur as you get older.
Hydroquinone is proven to dark spots, while Hydromanil (a natural moisturizing agent derived from tara seed) and aloe vera work to deliver moisture to the skin.
If You Want to Know More:
I tried my best to wear plenty of sunblock and multiple hats this summer, but despite my efforts, I still couldn’t seem to avoid the sun. Throughout my three months basking in the summer heat, I developed tons of freckles, a couple of sunspots and a bit of melasma across my cheekbones. With plenty of sun damage on my face, I knew I was the perfect candidate to try the Obagi Nu-Derm System for Normal to Oily skin.
The system includes a facial wash, a toner, a skin bleaching and correcting cream, a chemical exfoliant gel, a skin lightener and blending cream, a moisturizer and an SPF. Thankfully, each step is numbered, and a couple of the steps are labeled either AM or PM so that you know when to use which.
After using this system consecutively for two weeks, I saw a major difference in the damage I had done to my skin over the summer. I could tell that the melasma on my cheeks had significantly diminished and that some of the sun spots I had developed were starting to fade, thanks to the 4% hydroquinone in the creams. The toner, which contains witch hazel and aloe leaf juice, helps to adjust your skin's pH level, an important step when using prescription-strength products.
My skin did feel a tad bit drier after using this system daily, but I made sure to add a few layers of the moisturizer after a couple of days of feeling dry. The moisturizer was my favorite product in this 7-step skincare system. The added Hydromanil, a natural hydrating agent derived from tara seed, made this formula so creamy—it honestly felt like pure silk to the touch. It's a great option for anyone looking to fade discoloration or spots in a gentler manner than an in-office treatment.
