From cars to washing machines, Consumer Reports is the trusted resource for all things product-based. Now, just in time for summer, the organization is stacking up sunscreens—and the results are surprisingly affordable.

As reported on by Good Morning America, the top four lotions on the list were La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Melt-In Sunscreen Milk ($36), Equate (Walmart) Sport Lotion SPF 50 ($5), BullFrog Land Sport Quik Gel SPF 50 ($9), and Coppertone WaterBabies SPF 50 Lotion ($9). Trader Joe’s SPF 50+ ($6) took the top spot in the spray category.

While the Walmart one might come as a surprise to some, it does hit the big features the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) stresses to look for when selecting a sunscreen: It’s broad-spectrum, so it protects skin from both UVA and UVB rays, it rings in at an SPF of more than 30, and it’s water-resistant—which means it will stay on wet or sweaty skin for a while before it’s necessary to reapply. (Consumer Reports only tested sunscreens labeled SPF 30 or higher and had claims of water resistance for 80 minutes.)

“Broad spectrum is so important because it means it covers both UVA and UVB rays and both of those can cause skin cancer,” New York dermatologist Whitney Bowe, MD told GMA. “But with water-resistant, it’s important if you’re swimming, if you’re sweating—maybe not so much if you’re going to work.”
