As we all collectively emerge from months of winter hibernation, we’re getting more and more excited for warm, sunny days to be our norm. With that, though, can come an increased mindfulness of some of the self-care habits we let go while the snow was falling (hello, bare legs and exposed toes!). If anxiety surrounding your summer pedicures is preventing you from getting pumped for vacation, don’t fret. We tapped the experts at Nailing Hollywood to find out the best nail colors to stock up on for sandal season.

6 Nail Colors for Summer Sandal Season

Bright Red

“Red toes in the summer just make sense,” says Nailing Hollywood CEO Mazz Hanna. “It’s bold, classic and looks amazing with sandals. I like something with a warmer undertone for July—it pops more against your skin and feels extra summery.”

Two to try: OPI Big Apple Red ($12) and Dazzle Dry Pep Rally ($22)

Sunset Coral

“Coral is one of those shades that just works,” Hanna says on the perfectly summer shade. “It’s bright but not too loud, and it gives your pedicure a cheerful vibe. I always think of coral as the perfect in-between when you want something playful but still put-together.”

Two to try: Essie Check In to Check Out ($11) and ORLY Happy and Healthy ($11)

Soft Purple

Lavender is the “it” shade this spring, and Hanna predicts the same will hold true this sandal season. “Lavender and soft purples have been going strong this year, and they’re still such a good choice for sandal season. It’s a little unexpected on the toes, but still light and pretty—especially with open-toed shoes.”

Two to try: Dazzle Dry Periwinkle Passion ($22) and Essie Lilacism ($9)

Cream

Whether you’re heading to a summer wedding or just looking for something a bit sandier for your sandal-season pedicure, Hanna recommends warm neutrals, like a subtle cream shade.

Two to try: Olive & June Chemistry ($9) and Londontown Lakur Chelsea Porcleain ($16)

Warm Nude

“I love a neutral pedicure when you want something easy that goes with everything,” says Hanna. “A warmer nude works especially well for summer— it still feels clean and polished but doesn’t wash you out.”

Two to try: Londontown Lakue Pumpkin Nail Veil ($20) and Chanel Le Vernis Faussaire ($33)

Navy Blue

Navy toes always feel a little bit elevated,” says Hanna. “It’s a nice alternative to black polish in the summer—still deep and chic, but a little softer. Plus, it pairs really well with gold jewelry and beachy outfits.”

Two to try: Dazzle Dry Gambitt ($22) and OPI Midnight Mantra ($13)
