While it may be reaching its season 3 finale, Love Island has been a summer staple that has kept viewers laughing, loving, crying and even debating who should stay and who should go. The viewers aren’t the only ones wrapped up in the drama; host Arielle Vandenberg is right there with us watching the action unfold on the binge-worthy dating show. Speaking with us from the Villa in Hawaii—they had to film on the top of a Vegas hotel last season due to pandemic restrictions—the 34-year-old actress, model and TV host shares her best beauty tips and what she’s learned from hosting a handful of singles ready to mingle.

Are there any skin-care or makeup must haves you took with you to Hawaii?

“I always have to have my Lancôme Paris Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover ($32). I’ve been using that to take my eye makeup off since junior high. It comes everywhere with me! Especially Love Island where I do lots of glam!”

While on location, do you do anything different to maintain your normal wellness or fitness routine?

“If the location I’m shooting at has a gym, I’m all over it! I don’t have a gym membership at home but for some reason on location I’m a gym rat. I guess I just have more free time and it helps that it’s just right downstairs.”

What does your normal routine look like?

“My routine it’s kind of all over the place. I like to switch up my products a lot. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing, but it works for me. Recently I’ve been loving this clean skin care brand called Furtuna Skincare. I am in love with their Moisturizing Oil ($225) and Eye Revitalizing Cream ($285). It’s on the pricier side, but I think it’s important to use as clean of products as possible.”

Now that you’re in your 30s, do you find yourself doing more for your skin than you have before?

“I used to not want to put my skin care on my neck because I thought I was wasting the product that I spent good money on, but you have to take care of your neck, too. It’s right below your face!”

Getting glammed is such a big bonding experience for the women on the show. Have you learned any beauty tips or secrets from the contestants?

“One of my favorite things to see on the show is when one of the girls doesn’t know how to do something like their make up or hair, almost instantly another girl will step in and help them achieve the look they want! They all want each other to look good and feel good. It’s so sweet!”

Do you get just as invested in the love stories and the outcomes us viewers?

“I’ve been so invested in people’s journeys that I’ve actually gotten teary-eyed on set a few times when islanders got dumped from the Island. So, yes! [laughs]”

Now that you have three seasons under your belt, what have you learned about human behavior?

“I’ve learned that if you take someone’s phone away from them for an extended period of time, you have nothing else to do but make a human connection—and as basic as that sounds, it’s actually quite beautiful. While living in the Villa, you also have to deal with the consequences of your actions. There’s no ghosting going on here!”
