What time do you wake up?
I wake up at 6:30 a.m. regardless of whether I have a free day or if I am working. My body is used to waking up at this time, so, it just comes natural to me.
What’s your morning routine?
It’s fairly involved! I get up early and choose my outfit for the day. I love fashion, so, I always put a lot of effort into my outfit. On days when I have time, I have a dress form that I put my outfit on. It’s hard to see when you lay something out on the bed, or even when you try it on. You always look at yourself differently in the mirror than other people look at you; the dress form lets me see how my outfit will look from 360 degrees. Once I’m dressed and have finished my hair, brows and makeup, I have breakfast with my mother. I will usually have an egg and some fruit and we chat for a little bit before dashing out of the house. If I’m on the go, I will just grab a croissant and cappuccino. I can be out of the house in an hour.
What products do you use everyday?
I love trying new products and keeping my routine fresh. Right now, I’m in love with Epicuren Discovery, Tom Ford Pressed Powder and his lipsticks, and Kérastase products for my hair. For makeup, I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit and Concealer, L’Oréal mascara and brushes from MAC. For brows, I use our Brow Wiz and Dipbrow Pomade. I never leave the house without my favorite perfume, Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady.
Describe a typical day at work
I usually get to my salon around 9:00 a.m., see my first client around 9:15 a.m. and work straight until lunch. My chair is always full so the mornings and early afternoons fly by pretty quickly. For lunch I have a bottle of water and some sort of fish and salad. My favorites are Fiji water and grilled salmon and vegetables. In the afternoon, I usually do a few house calls for my VIP clients or visit a set to do brows for a photo shoot. Then, I speed off to my office and work with my team on products related to the makeup line, which consists of packing, development and marketing meetings.
What do you do after work?
I work pretty late, but after, I like to spend time with my family. My mother is a fabulous chef and makes the most wonderful homemade, organic meals inspired from our home in Romania. She makes a lot of fish, soups, stews and fresh vegetables. She’s also a tremendous baker, so here and there we have some sweets or pastries for dessert.
My daughter sometimes comes over and we talk about the business or whatever happened in our day. It’s nice to spend time with the family and reconnect with each other. We all love Instagram as well. Sometimes we will talk about who is posting what, the looks we love and read comments and see what trends are happening. It’s so interesting to me that the world communicates like this now and I love to keep my finger on the pulse of what’s new and exciting! Making sure I get seven hours of sleep is important to me and I usually go to bed around 11 p.m.
Any new products your excited about?
I’m really excited about the Pro Series of cosmetics we are launching this year! We have amazing contour shades coming out in addition to highlighters, concealers and eye shadows—everything you can imagine for the face.
What would we be surprised to know about you?
I’m extremely involved with every aspect of my salons and my company. I live for my work because I love it so much—the company is an extension of who I am. Something else you might be surprised to know is my iPhone is my favorite accessory and is something I couldn’t live without. It’s my central hub for business and family and it helps me do everything I need to during the day.
