Money management website Mint.com has found out some pretty interesting facts about women’s beauty buying habits. Some even surprised us. Here are the most fascinating of the bunch:

First, the average woman spends $15,000 on makeup in her lifetime with about $3,700 on mascara, $2,750 on eye shadow and $1,780 on lipstick. We are guessing the rest of the money goes to foundation, which a lot of women believe to be worth the splurge.

Four out of five American women wear makeup everyday, spending about 20 minutes a day on the application process. Perhaps that is because 50 percent of women believe it helps them in their career and allows them to feel more in control.

When it comes to beauty purchases, some women are so in love with high-end products that they say they would spend their entire paychecks on certain products, with fragrance being the most desirable and spend-worthy purchase.

Women also care a lot about quality in their cabinets. Forty percent of women say that quality it is very important when deciding what makeup to buy. Oh, and and here are the brands that most of women’s money is going to: Olay, Avon, L’Oreal, Neutrogena and Nivea.

What do you think of these stats? How do they compare to your beauty habits?
