When celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt first created Hailey Bieber’s now-famous glazed donut manicure for the 2022 Met Gala, she likely had no idea the cultural moment it would spark. Since then, glazed donut nails have become part of every nail fanatic’s lexicon, with people worldwide asking for the chic design. The look is stunning yet simple—all you need is your favorite polish topped with chrome powder to achieve that mirror-like shine.

But until now, one crucial piece of the puzzle was missing: OPI’s Chrome Effects Mirror-Shine Nail Powders. The shade Tin Man Can Glaze is what Ganzorigt used on Bieber’s nails, helping propel the look to viral status. However, the powder later became unavailable, leaving nail artists to make do without it.

But that’s no longer the case: Back by major demand, the Chrome Effects Mirror-Shine Nail Powders ($15) have returned, including the famous Tin Man Can Glaze (a silvery white), as well as three new hues: Chrome to Mama (titanium silver), Pearl Pressure (orchid pink-purple) and Mermaid For Me (golden pink glaze). Each delivers a high-impact, mirror-shine finish with any polish color.

When Ganzorigt and OPI shared the news on Instagram, nail artists were quick to react. Some shared that they had been scraping the bottom of their old, trusty containers, while others expressed their gratitude to finally be able to purchase them again.

And there’s even better news for at-home nail DIY fans: While Chrome Effects is available in-salon, as it was previously, it’s now also available for personal use with OPI’s at-home gel system, GELement ($60), making that signature glazed donut manicure more accessible than ever.

Though other chrome polishes and powders were available while OPI’s were off the market, it’s hard to beat these classic formulas—made famous by Ganzorigt—for a reason. Best of all, they’re incredibly easy to use. For at-home users, after applying your gel polish color and curing it, paint on a thin coat of GELement No-Wipe Top Coat ($16) to all fingers on one hand except the thumb and cure for 30 seconds. The shorter cure time helps achieve optimal chrome adhesion. Then repeat on the thumb.

Next comes the main attraction: chrome. Gently dip the applicator into the powder, rub it over the nail in circular motions and dust off any excess. You can also lightly buff the edge of the nail to refine the finish. Then seal it in by applying a final layer of the No-Wipe Top Coat to the four fingers and cure for 60 seconds. Once dry, repeat on the thumb. Finish by cleansing your hands and applying cuticle oil to lock in moisture.

Chrome Effects is available now at OPI.com and Ulta.
