It may only be spring, but Lindsay Hubbard is fully in a skin-safe, sun-protective mindset—and a new beauty partnership to match. The Summer House star is one of the faces behind Neutrogena’s latest launch, the Ultra Sheer Invisible Gel Face SPF 40 ($19), bringing her signature effortless approach to skin care to a formula designed for everyday wear.
Ahead of a special pop-up appearance in Ft. Lauderdale, Hubbard shared why this lightweight, invisible SPF has become a non-negotiable in her routine—and how this new launch fits seamlessly into her on-the-go lifestyle and finely tuned skin-care lineup.
What made this collaboration feel like the right fit for you, especially heading into spring break and summer?
"I grew up in Florida, so sunscreen has honestly always been a non-negotiable for me, it’s just been part of my routine for as long as I can remember, especially anytime I know I’m going to be out in the sun, and it’s only become more important. For the past few years, I’ve been getting more intensive laser treatments on my face through my dermatologist, so I have to be extra mindful about protecting my skin, especially during the summer.
Because of that, I’m super consistent about wearing face sunscreen every single day, no matter what, and I’m really intentional about reapplying, especially if I’m outside or in direct sunlight for long periods of time. So, partnering with Neutrogena for the launch of the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Invisible Gel Face Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 was a natural fit for me. I especially love how it goes on invisible and is genuinely so lightweight I can’t even tell I’m wearing it. I can trust my skin is being protected when I wear it and I also love how water resistant it is. Sun protection is literally something I genuinely prioritize in my routine, so overall it made total sense."
There are still so many misconceptions around SPF—what ’s one sunscreen myth you wish everyone would finally stop believing, and what’s the “invisible truth” you’ve learned through this partnership?
"I think one of the biggest misconceptions I hear in general from people is that there isn’t a sunscreen that actually works for their skin type or tone. That’s something I used to hear all the time from close friends and family, and honestly, even felt myself before finding the right products. But the truth is, there are formulas out there now that are made to be truly invisible on all skin tones, you just have to find the right one.
We spend so much time outside, especially when we’re filming the show, so sunscreen is completely non-negotiable for me. What’s the number-one skin-care step that you never skip, no matter how busy your schedule gets?
"Besides applying sunscreen daily? Since we film a show that can have a lot of late nights, it’s easy to just come home and crash into bed. Over the years, I’ve learned (and disciplined myself) to always take my makeup off before bed, no matter how tired I am. Even if I’m too tired to do a full nighttime skin-care routine, I will use makeup removal wipes to get as much makeup and dirt off as I can. It makes for better sleep anyway, which is arguably the ultimate number one skin-care tip: sleep!"
What are your must-pack beauty and wellness essentials that always make it into your everyday bag or travel carry-on?
"I honestly can’t go anywhere without lip and hand moisturizers in my purse. Both my lips and my hands get super dry, especially during the winter, and I feel naked without both on me at all times."
How do you make time for your personal self-care rituals, especially during high-energy moments like events, travel and appearances?
"When I’m at home, my dermatologist—shout out to Dr. Georgina Ferzli—and I created a pretty elaborate daytime and nighttime skin-care routine to battle discoloration, oily skin and texture. But when I’m traveling for an appearance, I condense my self-care ritual to a few key basics: a gentle cleanser, exfoliating pads, a daytime serum and moisturizer. And if I can remember, I also make sure to pack pimple patches in case an annoying blemish pops up from the plane or change in weather, and under-eye patches to put on before applying makeup!"
