Summertime officially begins on June 21, and a wave of fruity and solar scents that embody the sunny season are already having a moment. One big trend we're seeing? Banana-inspired scents. Le Monde Gourmand Banane Délice Eau de Parfum ($28 for 30ml)
Everything Le Monde Gourmand creates is crave-worthy, and this new scent is no exception. The brand says it was "inspired by sun-soaked vacations and sweet summer indulgence," and delivers "a dreamy, creamy twist on gourmand fragrances." Top notes include banana milk, pineapple and orange; mid notes feature coconut solar, sugar accord and heliotrope; and base notes round out with sugared musks, whipped vanilla and tonka bean.
D.S. & Durga Rose Pacific Eau de Parfum ($225 for 50ml)
Fragrance aficionados are excited about this one. The West Coast interpretation of the brand's cult-favorite, floral-aquatic scent Rose Atlantic, which launched in 2016, it "transforms the brand's signature roses-by-the-sea world through a distinctly Californian lens." Think fruity, green and slightly sweeter with a laid-back spirit. Top notes open with Pacific spray, Persian lime and apricot; mid notes include fruity rose, California poppy and avocado; and base notes settle into peach, fine sand and vanilla musk.
BORNTOSTANDOUT Cola Addict Eau de Parfum ($220 for 50ml, launches June 16)
Perhaps the most unique of the bunch this month is from Seoul-born fragrance house BORNTOSTANDOUT. It assumed the challenge to turn the nostalgic cola taste into a scent, making it "crazier, wilder and more addictive than ever." Top notes open with cola foam, lemon peel, lime peel, neroli, ginger and cinnamon bark; mid notes feature cola, caffeine, rum and nutmeg; and the base rounds out with cola syrup, vanilla, sandalwood, caramel and moss. The result: a sweet, playful and fun scent that will surely turn heads.
Bottega Veneta Ricordami Eau de Parfum ($300 for 100ml)
From the brand's new 10-piece fragrance collection called Alta comes this unisex, refillable scent described as "a milky, chocolate-laced Italian stracciatella ice cream accord that is unexpectedly anchored by deep oakwood." Top notes open with Paradisone and rum; mid notes feature AMBROX SUPER, Dreamwood and patchouli; and base notes round out with vanilla, Helvetolide, Muscenone, oak and frankincense.
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Strawberry Basil Eau de Toilette ($51 for 100ml)
The brand tells us renowned perfumer Rodrigo Flores‑Roux drew inspiration for this fresh-aromatic scent from his background as a botanist and memories of the lush garden at his childhood home in Mexico, where flowers, vines, shrubs and trees grew side by side.
"He layered juicy strawberry with fresh basil and an exclusive Herb Garden accord that was developed specifically for the scent." Key notes feature strawberry, basil and white birch, which create a fun, mood-boosting experience with every spritz.
Rite of Way Waterfall Eau de Parfum ($188 for 50ml)
The third launch in Rite of Way's scent wardrobe is an aromatic, nature-inspired fragrance developed with Joey Rosin of Hoax Parfum. "Waterfall is a reflection of harmony," the brand says. "A dance in the mist. From freshwater and clary sage to tuberose and ambrette musk, each layer of the scent flows in unison, inviting you to feel the rhythm of the river."
Top notes open with freshwater mist, D'Anjou pear and black currant; mid notes feature clary sage, lily of the valley and ylang ylang; and base notes round out with tuberose, violet water and ambrette musk.
Dior Paradise Eau de Parfum ($231 for 50ml)
Dreamt up by Dior's perfume creation director Francis Kurkdjian for La Collection Privée, this fresh, woody fragrance embodies Christian Dior's beloved Provençal retreat in the South of France. "I wanted to revive the memory of the immense orchard that he composed at the Château de la Colle Noire, and in particular, fulfill his desire to see hundreds of almond trees growing there," says Kurkdjian. "The bitter almond is rarely highlighted in perfumery. I paired it with a cocktail of cheerful citrus fruit top notes—mandarin, orange and lime—which light up the entire composition. In this way, the heart offers a mouthwatering treat, like an irresistible almond biscuit. Dior Paradise is as comforting as the first ray of sun emerging at the end of winter to caress your cheek."
Granado Nós Temos Banana Eau de Parfum ($165 for 75ml)
The Brazilian fragrance house teamed up with perfumer Ugo Charron to "explore the banana in all forms, from the freshness of the leaves to the creaminess of the ripening fruit." Though it's a bright, tropical treat for summer, the fruity notes are balanced by a woody base, lending just the right amount of depth. Top notes open with banana, peach blossom and fig; mid notes feature iris, banana leaf and hay; and base notes round out with musk, sandalwood and cedar.
Memo Paris Menorca Eau de Parfum ($340 for 75ml)
Inspired by the Spanish island of Menorca and the sensation of salt crystallizing on sun-warmed skin, this solar scent is one you won’t want to stop sniffing this summer.
